full moon in gemini + an exceptional end for 2021
THE FULL MOON IN GEMINI IS HAPPENING ON 19/DEC/21 AT 5:34 AM (CET), AT 27 GEMINI 28’.
With the Sun’s journey through Sagittarius coming to an end, the Moon stands in Gemini and reflects that light in a different way.
Rather than concentrating our attention on the big picture or in the distant future; different than focusing on larger objectives and greater understandings about life, the Moon in Gemini shines upon the here and now, the parts that make the “whole”, the smaller goals of every day, and the basic things that are happening at this moment.
While many of us have been looking far into the future, worrying about things that we still are not sure about, trying to grasp a greater meaning of this life and a greater understanding of it, the real fact is that all we have is the now. The people, the knowledge, our environment, and the available resources. To get into a larger picture of life, we have to master the now. And with this particular Full Moon, the now has the key to many doors.
Coming from an eclipse New Moon in Sagittarius, the Full Moon in Gemini is the revelation of this cycle, the manifestation.
A Full Moon reflects truths. A Full Moon in Gemini is more communicative than ever. It brings direct insights upon topics that are active at this moment (be it love, family, friends, work, plans, self knowledge, goals, and so on).
Gemini is the most mutable sign. And it’s an air sign (mind). It represents new perspectives, insights, learning and changing.
Because Mercury in Capricorn nicely trines Uranus (retrograde) in Taurus, it would not be surprising that around this time we might suddenly get direct information from some source, which will bring light upon certain things, inducing a change in mentality (the house where Gemini falls on your own natal chart will indicate in which areas of life this will likely manifest).
However, let’s not think that we only need to focus on what lies on the surface. Far from that. There is another important astrological alignment going on, which digs into deeper things.
Venus has just conjoined Pluto in Capricorn. But on the day of this Full Moon she will turn retrograde and, using a symbolic sentence, she will take a journey through the underworld.
What is there inside of us? It’s a great time to reflect upon deeper personal things, including the notion of our own self-worth, our achievements, our love relationships, other partnerships we’ve had, friendships, family, our relationship with money, and on everything that is or has been valuable to us. The information is inside. We have it.
(If you’re interested in learning about Venus retrograde in Capricorn and her “impact” on these days, read this article).
Don’t be shocked if you get suddenly hit by special feelings, old memories, and unexpected visions or crystal clear understandings. That’s the spark of Uranus in trine with Mercury during this time. All this helps us root new and stronger foundations and structure in different areas of our lives (the house where Gemini falls on your chart).
And to add a final touch of enlightenment to this Full Moon, Jupiter in Aquarius happens to be in a beautiful trine aspect to the Moon. This indicates that at this moment, we have the wonderful opportunity to compassionately understand and embrace our true authenticity (and that of those surrounding us). Our true nature, motivations, and hopes become discernible. And because Jupiter is the planet of “luck” and is associated with fortunate things, embracing this leads to a happier and more meaningful life.
As we progress through the second part of the month, on the 21st of December we have the annual Capricorn Solstice with the Sun’s ingress into Capricorn, and the hope for a new (exciting) year to come.
Moving forward, another Saturn-Uranus square by degree will hit on the 24th of December. And on the 25th of December, retrograde Venus conjoins Pluto by degree for the second time (but now in the underworld). A remarkable Christmas🎄.
But what does this all mean? The square between Uranus and Saturn indicates the possibility of tension between freedom and or responsibility. The pressure in areas – such as work, family, relationships, external authority, standards – versus the feeling of being free to do and be whatever we feel it’s true for us.
Even though that natural tension is present every now and then, during these days we will be really questioning our possibilities to be aligned with a path that allows us to feel free and fulfilled. And there can be a very strong desire to to liberate, to rebel against that which we feel is somehow restricting us. The feeling of being trapped in a challenging situation is a working of Saturn, whereas the liberating impulse is of Uranus.
There can also be a visceral fear of change, in some instances, and a strong resistance to change. Or a sense of insecurity of who we are, in a world that demands certain standards or has certain expectations.
In the mundane, this aspect usually indicates social changes, reforms, new laws and the fight for our rights. The emergence of groups fighting against the external authority. And also the silent catalysts for future radical events manifesting when Uranus and Saturn conjoin (in 2032, Gemini).
This square is not a thing of one day, but has been going on from the end of October until around mid February 2022. But on this Christmas Eve it will reach its “climax”. It’s also the second square, and a third one will come next year around October, but will not reach exactitude.
The resolution point behind this square aspect is to understand that in this Saturnian reality, there are tensions and challenging situations which we somehow cannot avoid, leaving us feeling restricted.
But part of our own growth lies upon our capacity to adapt in situations, change points of view, celebrate small victories, and on daring to make the necessary changes for feeling aligned with our true essence, or with what we feel will liberate us from some burden; the capacity to accept the fact that duty and responsibility are part of life. And sometimes we need to do things we might not like in a given moment in order to get something we truly want or need. It all comes good.
And for the grand finale of 2021, the skies top it all off with the ingress of Jupiter in Pisces on the 29th of December.
Jupiter in Pisces brings peace in some way. Traditionally, Jupiter rules the sign of Pisces, making it a great sign for him to transit. This indicates a year where the positive qualities of Pisces – such as connection, intuition, compassion, empathy, kindness, fun, and creativity – are going to be amplified. Growing intuitively is a theme for next year, and trusting our intuition when making decisions will be key.
On a different note, more challenging Pisces traits can also be a problem: overwhelming situations, intense currents of emotions (and the impossibility to deal with them), sensitivity, escapism, chaos, (passive) aggression, sensationalised dreams and deceptive illusions. Got to be alert for these so that they don’t get us into more trouble. Or get help when we feel we are losing it. The key is on flipping the coin to the good side of Pisces: having the capacity to stop, objectively observe, ground ourselves in what’s good, have gratitude for this, compassion for ourselves and others, and balancing the situation.
